Tim Dunn is the voluntary Development Co-ordinator at Bekonscot.
He provides consultation and advice to other similar attractions both domestic and abroad on model design, marketing, PR, construction and strategy issues. Through Bekonscot he is a member of the trade body IAMP (International Association of Miniature Parks) and is seeking to promote further discussion and collaboration between model villages. He is always happy to discuss any matter regarding model villages or miniature park projects – whether past, present or proposed.
There are a number of individuals currently working to create the Model Village Museum, and with Stephen Levrant (one of Britain’s leading heritage architects) is collaborating on several literary projects on the topic of miniature towns and cities. He helps curate the largest single collection of model village archive material in the world.
He is leading a team to collect, preserve and display artefacts from model villages around the world. Models from Thorpe Park, Great Yarmouth, Ramsgate, Corfe Castle and Dudley are currently being restored; whilst hundreds of miscellaneous artefacts from private and public model villages are in store pending cataloguing and display. Old artefacts, holiday photos, memories or particularly physical help are gratefully recieved to assist this massive (yet small scale!) project.
His book “Bekonscot - Historic Model Village” was published by Jarrold in 2004 and is available from Bekonscot directly and in some retailers. He has contoributed to many media and news stories on the subject, and has provided further published content for "B******s to Alton Towers" by Hazeley et al, and "Forever England", the bestseller by Liam Bailey.
